The VA C&P exam can be a daunting experience for veterans seeking disability benefits. Get prepared and increase your chances of success with this brief guide.

First, make sure you understand why you need a C&P exam and what it entails. The purpose of the exam is for the VA to evaluate your condition and determine your disability rating, which determines the amount of tax-free compensation & benefits you may be eligible for.

Next, gather all relevant medical records and documentation to bring with you to the exam. This can include any previous exams, test results, and treatment plans. It's also important to provide a detailed history of your military service and any related injuries or conditions.

During the physical exam portion of the C&P exam, be honest and VULNERABLE about your symptoms and how they affect your daily life. Don't try to downplay your condition, as this can negatively impact your rating.

It's also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the disability rating criteria and how it applies to your specific condition. This will help you understand what factors are considered in determining your rating, such as the severity of your symptoms and their impact on your ability to work.

Finally, be sure to communicate effectively with the medical provider conducting your exam. Ask questions if you don't understand something, and be clear and concise in describing your symptoms and experiences.
